With more than 60% of the employed workforce transitioning to work from home, more people are looking for jobs that enable them to work remotely. At varying experience levels, remote work options are opening up across industries.

Technology workers, especially in the field of cloud services, can find a plethora of remote-working or work-from-home opportunities. In addition to full-time roles, many freelance opportunities have opened up due to the pandemic.

1) Web Developer

It’s mostly easy to build a website if you can take up a few online courses. A web developer is also responsible for the site’s technical aspects, such as performance, capacity, speed, and how much traffic the site can handle. You don’t need an advanced degree to begin working in the field. If you have worked previously, you can show a portfolio of successful sites you have built and managed. You can also pursue coding boot camps which will teach programming skills in a short span that will help you be proficient as a web developer.

2) Big Data Analyst

Big Data Analysts wear multiple hats. They research and do data mining, which allows them to gather information to present their findings. They study the market, identify, collect, analyze, visualize, and communicate the data gathered, which will help enterprises make informed decisions. A Big data analyst must have a high mathematical ability and know programming languages like SQL, Oracle, and Python to analyze, model, and interpret data. If you have accuracy & attention to detail and can follow a systematic, logical approach, you can explore this option.

3) Cloud Practitioner

You can become a Cloud Practitioner by taking certifications from AWS. The AWS-certified cloud practitioner is intended for individuals with the skills to demonstrate a clear understanding of AWS roles effectively. A Cloud practitioner’s role is independent of technical roles addressed by other AWS certifications. A Cloud practitioner should be able to supervise, architect & deploy applications within AWS platforms. He or She must be able to develop plans for adopting cloud solutions and manage and monitor cloud platforms used by the organization.

4) Cloud Architect

A Cloud architect assesses an organization’s needs and drafts a plan that explains how cloud technology can be used to achieve the operational goals of that organization. A Cloud architect needs to possess top-notch planning & leadership skills. Cloud architects design and build cloud environments, manage various aspects of cloud computing, and coordinate cloud architect between various companies. You need a sound understanding of programming language, telecommunication, and API management systems. You can also become a cloud architect by getting a degree or technical training/certification and trying for on-the-job experience.

5) Network Security Engineer

Network Security Engineer facilitates, deploys, configures, and administers many different pieces of network and security-related hardware and software. These include VPNs, firewalls, switches, routers, and other network monitoring tools. A network security engineer also develops and supervises data and technology security systems that help prevent breaches, leaks, and taps associated with cybercrime. Other similar roles to this profile are information systems security engineer, information security engineer, and information assurance engineer.

6) Cloud Systems Analyst

A cloud systems analyst installs operating system software, patches, and upgrades within a cloud environment. He or She usually works with IT leadership to design new cloud infrastructure plans and services. As part of their role, they need to be able to develop, document, and validate policies, procedures related to a variety of cloud concepts and standards. Cloud analyst is also called cloud architecture analyst in some organizations.

7) Cloud Product Manager

A person in this role should usually be able to focus on strategy, execution, and user understanding. The people in this role usually manage existing and new services. They are usually responsible for determining the market viability of a product. It is usually expected that a Cloud product manager must have an advanced understanding of data science and be able to clearly communicate complex technical topics to a wide range of audiences. This is one of the most rapidly growing and in-demand positions in the market currently.

While the pandemic is casting a dark shadow, this has opened up more opportunities and created demand for cloud services. According to Forrester Research, remote jobs are expected to grow by 35% more in 2021 compared to 2020. Digital technology innovation has increased exponentially in the past 18 months, changing the landscape of remote working. Cloud computing is here to stay and grow rapidly. Companies will seek more qualified professionals with AWS and other advanced cloud computing skills.
